Daily Walk Through the New Testament

November 9

Read Romans 9:30-10:21

On the cross, Jesus wrote the payment check for our sins. At the empty tomb, God cashed that check and gave a receipt that said, “PAID IN FULL.” You may read those words and think, “I believe that.” But where do you believe it? In your head, or in your heart?
Romans 10:9 says that those who confess faith in Christ and believe in their hearts that Jesus rose again will be saved. Real belief is NOT in the head, but in the heart. The Jews considered the heart to be the core of the soul, the center of what a person really is. You can believe in your head everything you want to believe about Jesus Christ, but your life will never be changed until you believe it in your heart.

Read Romans 9:1-29

We’ve all had unmet hopes, and as a result, felt that God is unfair. But the truth is that God is just and loving. He wants us to succeed in life, but He wants our attention to be on the right avenue, not the distractions. Our hope must be in the Lord, not our expectations. To get over disappointments, remember God’s mercy — what He has done for you and saved you from. Let Scripture remind you that your knowledge and experience does not compare to His. Surrender to God and become His clay, allowing Him to mold and shape you, for He is trustworthy.

Read Romans 8:18-39

Oh, how God loves His people! And His love is not only declared but also demonstrated. When it comes to love, talk is cheap. People can say they love you, but before you believe it, you have to ask, “Where is the proof? How can I know this person truly loves me?” God has given us His Son as proof of His love. Allowing His Son to die on the cross was His way of demonstrating to us beyond a shadow of a doubt that He loves us.
There are certain things that happen in life that can make us doubt God’s love. We experience pain and begin to ask, “How could a loving God allow this to happen to us?” Always remember this: the cross trumps everything! God promised us we would never be separated from His love, but He did not say we would never face difficulties or challenges. There are a lot of things in life you may doubt, but you can never look at the cross of Jesus Christ and doubt that God loves you!
True love does not just say, I love you”; true love is always expressed visibly. True love is something you can see, not just something you can feel. Jesus Christ hanging on the cross is God’s love for everyone to see. If you will allow the death of Jesus on the cross to forever settle any questions you might have about God’s love, you will approach any challenge with a newfound confidence. Let the fact that God dealt with your greatest problem — sin — serve as evidence to you that there is no challenge He cannot overcome. “We are more than conquerors through Him who loves us (Romans 8:37)!

Read Romans 7:13-8:17

You have probably heard the phrase, “It’s better to ask forgiveness than permission.” Essentially it means someone is saying, “I’ve already decided what I want to do, and I’m not really open to finding out why it’s not a good idea.”
When we listen to teaching from Scripture, it’s easy to rationalize why a particular verse or message does not apply to our personal situations. We are hesitant to be completely ready to obey God in whatever He says. We are quick to see God as a cosmic kill-joy or to think He cannot relate to our day and age. As prevalent as this attitude is, even among Christ followers, nothing could be further from the truth.
You cannot possibly imagine all God has in store for you when you trust Him (Ephesians 3:20). Take Paul’s advice in Romans 8:5 and set your mind on the things of the Spirit. Ask God daily, “What shall I do, Lord?”

oops-We missed October 25, 26, and 27

It was brought to my attention today that the Daily Walk Thru the New Testament for October 25, 26, and 27 were omitted from our daily posts. I apologize for this mistake and have included those three Daily Devotionals in this post.  Please forgive, Randy

Daily Walk Through the New Testament
October 25
Read Acts 27:1-26

The lives of all the passengers on the ship in Acts 27 seemed to be in great danger. In such a severe storm, the ship’s destruction seemed inevitable. Paul, however, knew something the others did not: everyone would remain safe. An angel of God had told him the night before that although the ship would run aground, there would be no loss of life.
God’s Word is filled with promises. Whether you’re looking at His words about salvation and eternal life or His assurance that all your needs will be met by His riches in glory, you can see proof that God is mindful of you (John 3:16-17; Philippians 4:19). The key is to believe that what God says is true! Most Christians believe God will provide for others in need, but question whether He will provide for them when they are in need. Paul had no doubts about what the angel said. He trusted God’s promise of safety. Will you do the same with the promises God has made to you? It is time to step up and believe God’s Word concerning you. It is time to realize He knows your needs and He cates for you as much as He cares for others. Now is the time to trust God and His promises.

He has gifted you especially for His work at this point in history. Your perspective on life is unique and significant, and He wants to use you to carry out His will at this hour.
Will you allow God to work through you? His promises are sure, His faithfulness is unquestionable, and His love is undeniable. You can be a history maker as you partner with God in this great adventure. Submit yourself to His purposes today.

Daily Walk Through the New Testament

Read Romans 6:15-7:12

Dwight L. Moody was one of the most effective Christian evangelists in American history. Early in Moody’s Christian life, he encountered Henry Varley, a British evangelist who challenged him with the words that have often been attributed to Moody. In a conversation following an evening of evangelistic meetings, Varley said to Moody, “The world has yet to see what God will do with and for and through and in and by the man who is fully and wholly consecrated to Him.” Moody said Varley’s statement pierced his heart and spoke to his soul. He thought to himself, “It lies with the man himself whether he will or will not make that entire and full consecration. I will try my uttermost to be that man.” It became his life aim.
Paul called believers to live with the same commitment to God. He said Christ followers have been “set free form sin” and have become “slaves of righteousness” (Romans 6:18). When we recognize that every part of our lives and all we are belongs to Him, we begin living God’s way. Our part is to understand we are stewards of all He has entrusted to us. Every dream, desire, plan, and material resource must be presented to Him daily as an act of surrender and worship.
Welcome God’s reign in your heart today. Pray, “Search me, O God, and know my heart . . . Lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24). Examine every area of your life today, and allow God to show you how He would have you commit each area to Him.

Daily Walk Through the New Testament

Read Romans 5:12-6:14

Today’s passage describes in detail a marvelous truth: as Christ followers we are dead to sin (Romans 6:11). In Adam, all people are sinners; in Christ, they are saints. In Adam’s family, death reigns; in Christ’s family, deliverance reigns. We all know sin has no power over someone who is dead. Sin and temptation can show up, but the dead man will never give in.
When you become a Christ follower, sin lost its power over you the same way it loses its power over someone who has died. You can still sin, but you don’t have to — you’re not a slave to it anymore. Sin has lost its power over you. Why? Because you are aligned and identified with Christ. You were buried with Him and raised with Him. You share in His victory and are freed from sin.
Whenever you choose to give in to sin and temptation, you are rejecting the freedom Christ purchased for you at Calvary. Remember Paul’s clear teaching in Romans 6:1-2 that those who are dead to sin should not live in it any longer. You are called to choose the way of God daily, to “walk in newness of life” and consider yourself “dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6: 4, 11). Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you, rule in you, and guide you in living out who you are in Christ!

Daily Walk Through the New Testament

Read Romans 4:13-5:11

We do not deserve the love of the Heavenly Father. He simply chooses to love us in spite of our selfishness and sinfulness. John 3:16, one of the greatest verses in God’s Word, states that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Is there any greater proof of His love for us?
God knew we could do nothing on our own to save ourselves, so He came to our rescue. He sent the one and only lifeline that could save us, His Son, Jesus Christ. His love is greater than we could ever imagine! God never wavers in showing us His love — it is unfailing and eternal. He is indeed faithful! Even today, God is pursuing you with His love. Ask Him to help you receive it. Look around you and consider your life situation. What are evidences of God’s love for you this very moment?
1 John 4:19 says, “We love Him because He first loved us.” The Father longs for us to give Him our love in return, and there are so many ways we can do it. We love Him when we put faith in His Son, spend time with Him, grow to know Him better, honor Him in obedience, and love and bless others in service — and that’s just to name a few. David wrote, “Because your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You” (Psalm 63:3). Fill in the 2nd part of that sentence your own way today with a heart full of love for and gratitude to God!

Read Romans 3:19-4:12

Romans 3:23 says we all have a problem that must be addressed: we were born sinful and separated from a holy God. This holy God longs for a relationship with us, but our sin stands in the way. It robs us from having fellowship with Him and prevents us from ever living up to God’s standard. On our own, we’ll always fall short of the mark.
It doesn’t matter how good you are. It doesn’t matter if you can point to grand achievements in life or if your name is written on a church membership. You cannot work hard enough to earn salvation — so quit trying! Fellowship with God is made possible only through a relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. He gives you the gift of salvation when you place your faith in Jesus Christ alone.
Do you need to turn from sin and self in repentance? Will you turn to Christ in faith and trust Him as Savior? If you already have, give thanks to God and share your faith with someone today.
